Effectively isolate partitions to reduce flanking transmission across a wide load range for load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls.
GenieMat® FIS (Flanking Isolation System) functions as a permanently resilient gasket that minimizes sound and vibration transfer through building structures. It’s suitable for use with wood or steel framing, mass timber, as well as concrete block or poured concrete.
Manufactured from reclaimed rubber, it has a carefully controlled density and dynamic stiffness to ensure consistent, long-term performance. Highly durable, it’s resistant to water and temperature fluctuations, and will not break down or support mold growth.
Installation options include mechanical fasteners, polyurethane-based construction adhesives, or a range of thin-sets and mortars. GenieMat® FISW anchor washers are available for use with mechanical fasteners to prevent short circuiting.

Effectively isolate partitions to reduce flanking transmission across a wide load range for load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls.
An isolation strip that won’t break down, promote mold, bacteria, or fungi even when exposed to water.
Achieve your sustainability goals while ensuring healthier indoor air quality for every project.
Suitable for wood-stud, steel-stud, CMU, and mass-timber junctions to reduce flanking.

This versatile sound-isolation system is used to drastically reduce vibrations that travel along a wall or floor, often bypassing soundproof partitions. Common applications include:

Flanking transmission is noise that travels around an isolated assembly through indirect paths, such as through the floor-to-wall or wall-to-ceiling junctions. GenieMat® FIS significantly reduces this transmission by isolating the junction at the base and head of the wall, preventing structural vibrations from the wall from transferring between assemblies.
The system contributes to LEED® points under the Indoor Environmental Quality category by improving a building’s acoustics performance. Additionally, it supports the Materials and Resources category due to its post-consumer recycled content.
